Brief (“Brief”, “we”, “us”) is operated by Buildday LLC, 11816 Inwood Rd., Dallas, TX 75244. Brief includes:

  • the website at brief.cv;
  • the Brief web app at app.brief.cv;
  • the Brief mobile app, formerly “Page”;
  • Brief NFC cards and tags;
  • the page.fyi links that now point to Brief.

This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have.

1. Information you give us

  • Account:
    • name, email address, username and password (stored only as a one-way hash);
    • optional two-step verification settings;
    • if you sign in with Google or Apple, the account identifier and email address they share with us. With Apple, that can be a private relay address.
  • Your cards (profiles):
    • what you choose to add: photo, cover image, company logo, title, company, location, bio, links, and contact details such as phone, email, social profiles and website.
    • You choose who sees each contact detail: everyone, people who tap your card (“connections”), or only you.
    • You can make a card private or pause it.
  • Team information: when you join or invite people to a team, the team name and logo, the members’ roles, and invitation email addresses.
  • NFC devices: the code of each Brief card or tag you activate, and which of your cards it opens.

2. Information other people share with you

When someone views your card, they can choose to send you their name and email and/or phone number, and an optional note. We store it in your Contacts and email it to you. That person gives the information to you; you’re responsible for using it appropriately.

3. Information we collect automatically

  • Card views and interactions:
    • when someone opens a card, we record the date and time, the referring site, browser type, language, IP address and a random visitor identifier;
    • we also record taps on NFC cards, link and icon clicks, and contact downloads (vCards).
    • We use these to show card owners their Insights and to prevent abuse. We do not use them for advertising.
  • Sign-in security: sign-in attempts (email, IP address, success or failure), to stop password guessing.
  • Device information in the app: app version and basic device data needed to operate the app.

4. Cookies

We use only cookies needed to run Brief. We don’t use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

Cookie Purpose Lasts
__Host-brief_session Keeps you signed in on app.brief.cv 30 days, extended while you use it

5. How we use information

  • To run Brief: show your cards, make NFC taps and QR codes work, sync the app, send you share-backs, and provide Insights.
  • To keep accounts secure: sign-in protection, two-step verification, and abuse prevention.
  • To send service emails: sign-in and password reset, team invites, new contacts, and account deletion confirmation. We don’t send marketing email without your consent.
  • To comply with law and enforce our Terms.

We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.

6. Who we share it with

  • People you share with: your card shows what you’ve made visible to whoever opens it, and to people who tap your NFC card.
  • Your team: team admins can see members’ team cards and roles.
  • Service providers that host or deliver Brief for us, under contracts that limit how they use the data:
    • Amazon Web Services (hosting, database, file storage, email delivery);
    • DreamHost (hosting of the brief.cv marketing site);
    • Google and Apple, only if you choose to sign in with them;
  • Legal reasons: if required by law, or to protect people’s safety or rights.
  • Business transfers: if Brief is involved in a merger or acquisition. page.fyi joined Brief this way.

7. Keeping and deleting your information

You can delete your account at any time:

  • on the web, in Settings → Account → Delete account;
  • in the app, in Settings → Delete account.

Deleting your account:

  • immediately removes your cards from public view;
  • signs you out everywhere;
  • removes your password and your Google/Apple sign-in links;
  • releases your NFC cards.

When you delete your account, we deactivate it: it can no longer be used, viewed or signed into, and the steps above take effect right away. We keep the deactivated record to prevent fraud and abuse, resolve disputes and meet legal obligations. To have it permanently erased, email hello@brief.cv and we’ll erase it within 30 days, except where the law requires us to keep it.

We keep card analytics for up to 24 months. Sign-in attempt logs are kept for about 1 day.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • access, correct or delete your personal information;
  • object to or restrict certain uses;
  • receive a copy of it.

You can do most of this yourself:

  • Correct it: edit your cards.
  • Get a copy of your contacts: export them as CSV.
  • Delete it: delete your account.

For anything else, email hello@brief.cv. We’ll respond within the time the law requires. You may also complain to your local data-protection authority.

9. Security
